My Solo Repertoire (for weddings, parties, etc!)
Classical Music
J.S. Bach wrote six beautiful suites for solo cello. If you have favorites among them, let me know what you'd like to hear - I love playing these pieces. There is so much beautiful, familiar classical music that works well for 'cello! I have written lovely arrangements of Pachelbel's Canon (yes, the cello can play two notes at once), Bach's Air on the G String, even the Mendelssohn Violin Concerto. Here is a partial list from my "gig book." Adagio (Albinoni), Arioso (Bach), La Folia (Marin Marais), Jesu Joy of Man's Desiring (Bach), Largo (Handel), Spring (Vivaldi's Seasons), Après un rêve (Fauré), Cantilena (Poulenc), Hungarian Dances (Brahms), Liebestraum (Liszt), Menuet (Debussy), Nocturne (Chopin), Bolero (Ravel), Rodeo (Copland), Sleeping Beauty Waltz (Tchaikovsky), The Swan Saint-Saëns), Meditation from Thaïs (Massenet), Vocalise (Rachmaninoff), Ave Maria (Gounod or Schubert) Of course I do music for Christmas and other special festivities! REMEMBER, IF YOU DON'T SEE IT, JUST ASK — I have literally hundreds more. Email me at bishop@agt.net

Other types of Music
Where to start? Do you like mellow love ballads, light-hearted show tunes, jazz standards, rock 'n roll? How about Amazing Grace in two-part harmony? If I don't know a tune, or if it's not one of the 2000-odd selections in my "fake books," I love learning new ones. These days there are so many easy ways to find a tune - if I can't find it on the internet or at the library, maybe you can hum a few bars? And yes, I'll be happy to play Here Comes the Bride. Here is a partial list to get you started. Czardas (Monti), Danny Boy, Dark Eyes, Greensleeves, Drap O’Capie O!, Sweet Georgia Brown, All the Things You Are, Basin Street Blues, The Entertainer (Joplin), I’ve Got You Under My Skin (Porter), Misty, My Funny Valentine, Star Dust, Take Five, Unchained Melody, Unforgettable, When I Fall In Love, You LIght Up My Life, Belfast Hornpipe, Michelle, When I'm Sixty Four, Yesterday, As Time Goes By, What Are You Doing the Rest of Your Life?, Just Can’t Wait to Be King, Romeo and Juliet (Love Theme), The Rose, Lara’s Theme (Dr.Zhivago), Don’t Cry For Me Argentina, Hello Young Lovers, We Kiss In a Shadow, Why Can’t You Behave, Music of the Night, Edelweiss Not exactly casual background music, but I do also play music for personal healing. The cello's song is the song of our spirits, and it heals as it touches us.
